<M50TU> Jim C chip-gas mileage?

A week or two ago I finally bought and installed a Jim C. chip from TMS in
my 94 325is. The performance gain is truly impressive-the butt dyno can
feel in at pretty much all RPM's and throttle positions. Kudos to Mr.
Conforti for designing such an easy and worthwhile upgrade for these cars.
However, I have noticed something else-since I put in the chip, I've noticed
significantly better gas mileage. I haven't done any exact or specific
measurements, but estimates with the trip odometer and OBC indicate that I
get at least 1 or 2 more average MPG. It's not a driving habit change; I've
been driving harder since I got the chip ('cuz it's fun!). I think there
are three possibilities: one, I switched from 89 octane gas to 93 before
installing the chip and the higher octane burns more efficiently; two, the
chip does have an undocumented side effect of raising gas mileage; three,
this is just a fluke and over time the average will equal out (or go down
after factoring in my aggressive driving). So what do you think? Maybe the
LandShark can give us the true facts. Thanks for your input.
