Francisco,
The stock muffler has a two-stage setup that closes
that flap under certain vacuum conditions. When
the exhaust is restricted thus, it reduces noise and
increases bottom-end torque. It would be a good idea
to plug this hose and tie it out of the way (duct or
electrical tape, tie-wrap, etc.) in case you ever put
on a OE muffler again (or a later owner wants to).
