BMW CCA Treasurer
(For you non-BMW CCA members, sorry about the <wob>.)
OK, my Roundel finally arrived Saturday, and I read the candidate
statements. There are four candidates for Treasurer. All of them are
CPAs (three of them even said so) and appear to have been active in
their BMW CCA chapters for quite some time.
I know Tamara Hull personally, but I have to say, her statement doesn't
really say anything much about accounting or bookkeeping or financial
reporting. She does have some worthwhile goals, like the drivers' ed
courses and a charitable foundation, and I think that Tammi should be
supported by the BMW CCA in these efforts, even if she does not win the
election.
Ray Cesta's statement does not say which chapter he belongs to, does
anyone know him?
Tom Soule has been with the L.A. Chapter for 18 years, and I like to
support West Coast candidates - hey, sorry you Easterners, but this is a
regional thing! - but the L.A. Chapter, until very recently, was a BMW
ACA club, so how much do they know in L.A. about CCA politics? Probably
more than I know.
So that's really my question for all the candidtes: How do you see the
relationship between CCA and the Chapters? What will you do to end the
anti-West Coast bias that many of us have felt over the years, but which
the Easterners continue to pretend doesn't exist? (Boy, I know I'm
gonna get flamed for making these statements, but this is based on
personal experience, and the experience of others in the GGC. Happily,
the Digest seems to be totally free of this bias.)
There is no question from her candidate statement that Kathy Lyle would
make an excellent treasurer, but would she be the best one for us West
Coasters?
I would love to hear from the candidates on their politics, on these and
other issues. Of course, I'm probably gonna get a couple of ears full
from everyone else in the process.
OK, sorry to divert your attention from the important stuff.
