Looks like we may have stumbled onto something regarding the E36
Headlight units. A fellow digester over in the UK believes that the
change to the BMW headlight cover attachment (spring-loaded metal
clips on either side of the plastic (or glass in Euro) lens, holding
it onto the housing) began in the 1994 model year in Europe, which
probably equates to 1995 models over here. If this is true, it sounds
like it may be possible for 1995+ owners to opt for the glass
replacement lenses if and when your polycarbonate lenses inevitably
get too sandblasted/cloudy.

PS..www.bekkers.com is the only source in the US (that Im aware of),
that sells the _glass_ replacement lenses for the Euro Headlights.
