<E24> Dash Lights

Hey Guys:

Happy New Year!
Quick one, I just noticed that the when the lights are on in my E24
1985 M635CSi the computer buttons, defroster button and air
conditioner button do not light up as in my other BMW cars.  Does the
fact that this is an Euro version make a difference?

If anyone has any idea please let me know.
