RE: <ALL> Q. about larger wheels

Hi Wes,
You can upgrade to 17" with BMW wheels you don't have to worry about
offset because your 325 has the same spec as a M3. Also your car does
not need a steering blocker, only '93 or older needs them because 17"
tires would rub at full steering lock, they come installed on 93' and
newer E36s. As far as tire size, if you get take off contour wheels
from an M3 you have 2 choices:
For 95 M3, it came with 17x7.5 wheels with 235/40/17 tires all around
The advantage with this setup is that you can rotate your tires for
even wear and therefore don't have to buy tires as often.
For 96 and up M3 they came with front 17x7.5 wheels with 225/45/17 and
rears 17x8.5 with 245/40/17 tires. With this setup you can't rotate
your tires from rear to font.
I recommend you to get the 17x7.5 and use 235/40/17 tires all around
if you plan to upgrade your suspension. if you keep your stock
suspension I would recommend you to use 17x7.5 wheels and 225/45/17
all around. forget getting 245/40/17 on your car, They are too
expensive, on back order most of the time and your 2.5 engine will
never overpower the 235/40/17 anyways.

Hope this helps!

Joe.

The things you learn...I'll go to the Tire Rack for my tire
sizinglesson.
Jefrem Iwaniw mentioned that if I want to go to 17" rims (M Contours in
particular), I would need to make sure that the wheels have the correct
offset and that I might need a steering stop block to prevent rubbing at
full lock. Can someone help me understand what all that
means?Thanks,Wesleyan Hsu
