Change to Synthetic Oil?

Rob,

I just switched my '87 535is over to Mobil 1 Synthetic at my last oil change.  The car 
had just turned over 100,000 miles.  I've now got 102,000 and so far so good.  Before 
the switch, the engine used no oil between oil changes (~3000 miles) and had no 
noticable leaks.  It appears that the synthetic oil is doing just as well.  I'm planning 
on changing the oil now according the the service indicator lights (~8-9000 miles) so I 
might need to add a little oil before then.  My advice, as long as your engine is pretty 
tight (i.e. burns no oil/no leaks) then go with the switch to synthetic.
