RE:318i M42 Coolant Hoses

In addition to Ron Browne's ironically timed post (85% of the hoses on
our '91 E30 M42 are being replaced today), I'd like to point out that it
also applies to the E30 cars as well (perhaps more so, simply because
they are older).
I would have loved to have had this convenient list two weeks ago! :)
My mechanic gave to me a copy of the "M42 hoses" pages from the BMW
parts book, and I went out to the car and marked off each one that
looked less than brand new (about 75% of them). He ordered those, and a
few more that had to come off anyhow in the process.
As Bob Vila always says, "You might as well....".

In case you missed it, here is what Ron said:

>Subject: <E36>List of 318i M42 Coolant Hoses
>
>
>Early E36 318 owners may want to consider changing their coolant
>system hoses (if you have not already done so) soon. I'm no expert on
>this particular subject, but I figure 6.5 to 7 years on a set of hoses
>is starting to push it. Mine are all original, and still look good,
>and have no signs of cracking or softness when squeezed. Keep in mind
>that hoses usually begin to deteriorate from the inside out.
>I have not acquired the actual hoses yet, and have not even carefully looked at the
>location of all the hoses to see how difficult this job will be.
