dented e36 M3s are better!

I'm about to buy a '95 M3. The mechanics are in reasonably good shape - it's only got 28k miles - the body is somewhat abused (dents, missing trim, cracked windshield) and it's been in one accident that bent the rear suspension. Your question: why wou
d one buy a car in such bad shape?

I want a damaged car for a couple reasons.

1. I live in oakland and it's stressful (and maybe even dangerous) to have a stunning car. (it's the last cheap place in the bay area, so tell your friends - Oakland's horrible! ;)

2. I own BMW for driving pleasure alone and I'm actually kind of embarassed by the attention they draw, so I'm more comfortable when the car's more 'lived in' looking.

3. I can't afford anything less "used". I need a M3 that's ugly so the value is low enough for my meager budget.

In the past, I've bought cheap 2002s and put trick parts on them - only to find that I was building an M3 by hand - and the thing would always whistle at high speed, and lack comforts like power everything, and and and.

For $20k I could also buy a 318 (yawn), or the e30 M3 - but I so want 240hp and dimming interior lights!

happy holiday,
