Harsh vibrations comming from rear of car

Hello fellow bimwads!

Today as I was driving my 95 325i kinda hard I noticed something that I 
didn't like. I was in second gear and accelerating pretty quick and felt 
a hard vibration comming from the rear of my car at about 2800 rpm's. 
Kinda scared me actually.  It felt as if I ran over a bottle or my tire 
was about to fall off or something.  This only happens in second gear 
and only when I'm accelerating fast.  Does anyone out there have any 
clue as to what this can be?  If I were a mechanic (and I'm not) I would 
have to guess that it has something to do with my drive shaft.  Could my 
center support bearing or coupling be bad? I've driven the car hard 
before and it has never done this to me.  If this is the start to what 
could be a more serious problem I would like to fix it ASAP.  Any 
comments are appreciated. TIA!
