Inspection Tips Anyone???(E36)

This weekend I plan on doing the inspection 1 on my 1995 325i 5 sp.w/ 
61K. I would really appreciate any tips or amything in particular I 
should do or check for.  I noticed after reading the service manual that 
it is mostly a visual inspection of everything besides the oil change 
and microfilter change and a few other things but is there anything else 
I should do beside what it says in the book?  I have limited tools but 
enough to do the job and a little more.  Any tips, suggestions or 
comments will be appreciated. TIA!!!

P.S.  How many quarts of oil do I put into it to eliminate the piston 
slap again?  6 3/4??
