Hi Alix,
Headlights, fogs, etc. are annealed glass, that is, it breaks into sharp
shards. Windshields are multi-layered, with a plastic "membrane" that
serves the same purpose as the tape. Oh yeah, windshields are also
tempered, meaning that it will break into lots of little cubes, not too
sharp on the edges.
