Greetings:
My brother recently complained about the recent illumination of a
mystery warning light on the guage cluster of his 1993 325ia. This
light accompanied some odd recent behavior from his auto-transmission.
He complained of sporadic problems upon takeoff...like the car would
stick in a low gear, providing very little acceleration, then the car
would switch to a higher gear later.
He checked his owners manual, and the warning light references a
"transmission control module" failure. Symptoms are consistent with
what he reported.
1)Anyone experienced this?
2)Where exactly is this module located?
3)Price on this part?
4)Any gotchas during replacement?
The Haynes manual does not say anything, and a quick check of the
FAQ's dont show anything either.
