Re:Bond in a German Car

Yes, Ian Fleming did initially have 007 driving a Continental Bentley (with
custom coachwork by Mulliners, mind you) but history will recall that he was
forced to add a supercharger to keep up with mere Lancias!(voiding the
warranty the Bentley boys gave him when he installed "new clockwork") An
elegant beast, but obviously not a fast one, nor tricked out by "Q". As for
the Aston... well a DB5 is a gorgeous car IMHO, and was certainly comparable
to a contemporary Ferrari in most performance aspects(although a new DB7
probably wouldn't fair as well against a 456MGTA) but clearly the opening
DB5-F355 duel in Goldeneye explained the switch to German Driving Iron; Bond
found that the sum width of his four Aston Martin tires added up to one rear
tire on the F355!! Not quite an optimal setup!

BTW, anybody remember when the Z3 was first introduced and everybody expected
to see that 1.9 liter animal in all its glory in Goldeneye, only to find it
had a 10 second shot sans any "spy activity"! What a gyp!

PS-"Diamonds are Forever" -Sean Connery even did the Bond thing in a Mustang!
Maybe this isn't an honor for the Marque afterall...
