Your mechanic is right about the leaky injectors. After shutdown the fuel leaks
from the injectors to the piston crowns and results in the hardstart symptom.
There will be a lot of black smoke coming from your exhaust pipe and the strong
smell of fuel. Usually if the car sits long enough and there is minor leakage,
the car will start fine after the fuel has evaporated . The hardstart condition
will get worse as your injectors begin to leak more. I don't know how well fuel
injector cleaning works as I opted to have mine replaced.
