Does anybody have any advice as to treating/cleaning brakes in order to prep
for painting.
I have a 90 325is with 16" Hartges, but my rusted (or oxidized if you
prefer) calipers and hub are detracting from the good looks. Powder coating
is a bit to expensive of an option so I think I'm going to paint them with a
high temp paint. I just need to know how to prep for the paint. Also, if
anyone has done this, I would love to hear your experiences and possible
paint recommendations.
Thanks so much,

Josh,
When I purchased my used M6 calipers a couple of years ago, I had them glass
beaded and repainted for about $50 each. Local Seattle shop, did a nice
job. Had them rebuild them, too, with a rebuild kit I purchased through the
mail for about $35. Total cost - about $150, including tax (this was WA
state, after all).
So, depending on miles, you may want to consider a rebuild at the same time.
I also had my choice of colors. Considered a few cute color combo options,
then came back to reality and went with black (hides brake dust the best)
:-)
Good luck,
Reed
