there was an announcement about VIR at the fall SCCA Northeast Divison
mini-convention.

they've hired Mike Rand away from Lime Rock to manage the rebuilding of VIR.

they plan to bring back the old course, more-or-less, with the necessary
safety upgrades. they also plan to add loops so that they can run two
shorter tracks simultaneously.

the old track was fairly dangerous; they have cut the trees back quite some
distance to improve safety.
