<E36> stalling problem

I have a 97 BMW 328i.  In the last few
days it has stalled thrice when I've been slowing
down to a stop at light.  Also, when driving on
the highway, the engine has plunged 500 RPM or so
and then comes back up to the usual RPM.  Almost like
I pressed the clutch and released it immediately.

Anyone have any theories on what could be going on?
