I posted the same question a month or two ago when my '98 M3 had the same problem. I got several responses and it looks like it's fairly common. My Check Coolant message appeared at around 10 months. It wasn't bone dry and didn't cause any cooling problems but it was a little low. My dealer topped it off and it's been fine since. Bruce Mitchell Windy City Chapter ------------------------------
