'94 325i "check engine" light

The "check engine" light in my 1994 325i 5speed came on the other day.
I've checked and topped up all of the fluids (rad., wind. wash, oil,
brake), what am I missing? Does anyone know what other situations
make that light come on. Also, there is still one green inspection
light on. Any help would be appreciated. TIA
