RE>E28 Temp Gage

Vehicle: '86 528e - new stock radiator spring '97, presently 139K+ miles

Local: SF Bay Area - generally moderate climate, temperature extremes,
overnight low may dip close to freezing, but not the rule, general coolest
winter temps may run around low 40s in early morning. Summer temps
generally run high 70s to mid 80s but are known and have experienced peaks
of 105+

Traffic can be the full range in above temps. from stuck and not moving to
70MPH freeway.

On short trips where the engine "just" comes up to temperature and no
extremes in temperatures or traffic conditions, the tip of the gauge will
stabilize about 1/8" left of 12:00, maybe at the left hand edge of the
"water" marks of the thermometer Icon on the gauge.

When fully warmed up, say on longer trips, with or w/o A/C running the gauge
will stabilize at 12:00.

Under extreme conditions that can combine:
   very hot temperatures
bad traffic conditions or climbing long grades
  with A/C on
I have seen the temp. gauge stabilize perhaps 1/8: to the right of 12:00,
maybe at the right hand edge of the "water" marks of the thermometer Icon on
the gauge.
