Another OBC Q

Hello,

To stay with the recent discussion on OBC matters, I thought I'd ask you
about the goofy behavior of my board computer. 

The Range display is strange. It displays around 73 miles most of the time.
If I completely reset the OBC, it says something like 200 miles. On a full
tank of gas, it might indicate 90 miles, but then soon, it will display
around 73 again. Only when I'm really starting to run out of gas, it'll go
down. 

I don't have any schematics, so I don't know how this system works, but I
imagine the computer would multifly the average fuel consumption in MPG by
the amount of fuel left in gallons. 

The fuel gauge seems to work fine. The current fuel consumption gauge seems
to work well too, safe for a little bit jittery when standing still. The
average fuel consumption display seems to work good as well.

What's going on here?
