<E36> Water Pump Info needed

OK, I was a good boy and scanned the archives...Does anyone have information
about E36 water pump failures?
I know that some of the earlier models came with pumps that had plastic
impellors that tended to fail a little more quickly than they should.

- - What years had the plastic impellors?
- - Rough life expectancy for these pumps?(i.e. when should they be replaced
as a precaution?)
  - Noted in archives that E28 water pumps only have about a 60k life
expectancy
- - If someone had this done at a dealer.  what is approximate cost?
