Leather Seats

I've just acquired a partially reconditioned '87 325ic which is running 
wonderfully.  This is my first BMW after two decades of MBZs.

Looking for suggestions:  Prior to my acquisition, the previous owner 
completely replaced the front seats with new leather buckets.  After replacing 
them, he let the car just sit for 11 months, in and out of the sun (mostly in), 
with only the occasional use (maybe one drive a month).  My fear is that the 
leather upholstery may soon crack has it is very stiff from lack of use.  
Currently they look wonderful...just stiff.  

Any suggestions as to how to break them in, treat the leather or other means 
of getting the leather to loosen up in hopes of prolonging their life before the 
splits arrive....

Your help appreciated.
