E28 "Boom"' and no start

Figured it out myself; the boom upon start up was the hose from the air 
filter to the intake manifold; the clampp had slowly unloosened and it only 
took a bit of start up air intake to pop it off. Thanks to all those who 
replied.

Here's another query: where the oil dipstick tube meets the engine block, 
is there the opportunity to leak coolant? I've noticed a teeny tiny amount 
of coolant that seems to be collecting around the base of the dipstick and 
can't seem tto trace the source of any leak.
