RE: Request for Tire advice - <E30>

Dan, I've been very happy with Yoko AVS Intermediates over the last
15K miles (still over 1/2 thread left). They are about the best street
performance tire you can buy in our size. I got them at Discount Tire (they
match TireRack prices - why bother with shipping?) at about $90/tire.
Pirelli P6000 were my second choice.
Your choice in tires will ultimately be limited by how much you are
willing to spend. AVSi's (reportedly) last around 30K very fun, enjoyable
grippy miles.

have fun,

     Alex,
I sure have to agree with you about the AVS Intermediates. I
replaced the Michelin MXV4's on my '87 325iS with the Yokohamas and
have been very happy with my choice. While I can't say much about how
they compare to other performance tires as far as ultimate grip in the
wet and dry, I'm sure pleased with the performance of them. Add to
that a smooth quiet ride and I feel that you have an all around tire
that *most* drivers would be pleased with (at least those that don't
have to drive in the snow and ice).
