323 base wtih auto OR new jetta IV glx

I'll be in the market late next year for a new car and am in love with the
new 3.  However, it seems a bit sparsely equiped and when compared to the
new jetta IV glx, hmmmm. What are ESSENTIAL options to get?  Also, have any
of you obtained your bmw thru the european del prog?  How was that
experience?

Also, do you guys know if the BMW's are made of galvanized steel?
