Greetings from SF. IMHO, if your are going to keep the car for the long
term, an extended warranty is a very good investment. The insurance
companies bank on you selling the car before you need to collect, so the
price reflects that.
If you have a good independent BMW specialist (any suggestions for Portland
from the list??), they can generally find a bunch of things which will make
the warranty pay for itself.
