re: Winter car survey

1987 325i with snow tires. This year it's Michelin XM+S Alpins - $75 at
Discount Tire. Last year I had Pirelli P190s, which wore out after 12K
miles, and got badly out of balance towards the end of their useful
life. The Michelins are smooth, quiet, and not too squirelly in the dry.
Consumer Reports just rated them the top all-around winter tire. I know,
CR is a bunch of conservative Buick drivers. I use this car to go
snowboarding in the mountains near Denver and get to work on snowy days.
