Tap-tap-tapping



Okay, we all know the M3 (and a few other Bimmers) have this problem
of oil starvation in high-g turns that cause the valves to start tapping.

What I don't understand is why they keep tapping for many minutes after
the car has stopped high-g cornering.  It would seem that as soon as the
sloshing has stopped, the oil would be quickly distributed to the valves
and the tapping would stop.  How long does it take oil to circulate thru
the system??  Or is it that some damage has occurred resulting in tapping
until it wears back down?  Or???
