List,
I went back to doing my own oil changes this spring after paying the
dealer to do it for me for three years. Got my filters from Steve D'G, and
got my Lubro-Moly and a Peake reset tool from BMP. Here's my question:
The first time I used the reset tool, the lights went back to normal, just as
they should. However, on the two subsequent uses, the lights have not
come back on.
The instruction sheet that comes with the reset tool suggests that when
you have this problem, it is an indication that the cause may be "a dying
or dead backup battery on your S.I. (Service Interval) computer circuit
board." (The car was manufactured in 1/95.) In your experience, is this
the most likely explanation? Or is it simple operator error? Any other
explanation that I may be overlooking?
TIA for your assistance.
