Personally? No. But Ray Korman told a few horror stories at the open 
house earlier this year about blowing out the engines of the first few 
E36's they raced due to oil starvation. His presentation was on the type 
of modifications you should look at for drivers schools. He focused on 
upgrading the car for reliability and safety, not performance (i.e. he 
didn't try and sell his suspension packages or turbo upgrade, but he did 
highly recommend the oil pan).

Let's face it. The more modifications you put on your car (R compound 
tires, track suspension, race pads, etc.) the closer that E36 gets to a 
race car. And the closer it gets to the oil starvation Ray experienced.
