OIl in struts - cooling

My thought is this:
what harm, if any, does the oil do if used?
You have heat transfer with oil.
Will the damping be affected by too much cooling?
Will they drop down to near freezing? Will ice
form on your struts? Maybe we could run cooling ducts
to the brakes from the strut then. Okay, this is silly. *SLAP*>>>>>>>>>>

Hey, you're on to something there! Maybe we could use some sort of high
powered fan to blow air at some phenomenal rate down to the
struts......sorta like a turbo...or a supercharger..... INCOMING!!!!

I was under the impression that old style inserts required oil, whereas gas
filled didn't, because their internal pressure kept them snug in the bores.
