The small window appears only on E30 convertibles. The wiindow has to be =
installed from below the sill - it is not possible to install it like a =
windshield by slipping it into the frame. Remove the door trim - Bentley =
describes this well - and loosen the motor so you have space to insert the =
pane into the door throught the hole in the door metal. The hole is =
partially blocked by the window motor. =20
The window is held up by a flat metal piece undreneath it that has tabs =
that insert into the outer panel and a hole tha accepts a screw through =
the inner panel (of the door). The window should be inserted with the =
rubber seal in place. Soap helps a lot. Took me and my girlfriend about =
1 hour to do this. It is nice to have someone hold the moving window up =
when you reinstall the motor and have to adjust it.
Mechanic quoted $168 in labour. 3 hours! We took a combined two hours =
since there were two people for 1 hour. Actually, the second was not =
needed for the full one hour.
Jason Lile supplied the window at a VERY reasonable $15 plus $8 S&H. =
Thanks.
