E28 Auto Tranny rebuilt again??

Less than a year ago I had the auto tran on an 86 535i rebuilt.  Today the
old symptoms are back.  Slippage in forward gears, burnt smell to the fluid,
and when revving with the brake on the rpm goes easily to 5000.  How can the
clutches be bad already?  Can something else be wrong?  What? Please help.
The fluid levels is fine and the car has not been abused.
