E34 525i Valve cover gasket

I have noticed my 93 525i valve cover gasket developing some leakage
onto the motor.
Is this a simple procedure of removing the engine shroud and then simply
unbolting the valve cover and replacing the gasket?
I would greatly appreciate any guidance on this repair.
If it is something which can be done I would also appreciate knowing
which gaskets (OEM or aftermarket) and if any gsket sealer is used.
