AVUS Blue

Howdy all,

I remember a particularly intriguing series of posts regarding the correct
way to pronounce "Avus" as in Avus Blue.  I believe that after the final
(88th) post on this subject, I concluded that everyone on the Digest knew
definitively the correct (and different) way to pronounce Avus.

So I must tell you that I learned something equally interesting about Avus
Blue on a recent trip back from balmy San Diego to chilly Chicago.  Reading
a United magazine article about autobahn driving, it turns out that "AVUS"
was the name of the first autobahn in Germany!  

I thought you all would want to know in time for weekend cocktail party
chit-chat.
