ALL THE INSURANCE INFO YOU EVER WANTED...From the horse's mouth.

    Hey everyone,
My father sells insurance for State Farm and I obviously have both
my cars insured with him in central Florida. Let me clear up a few
misconceptions. Your insurance rate is based on
                        A. The type of driving you do...ie, the # of
miles/year in city or rural community. this is based on area code.
                        B. Your car, is it an aluminum AUDI or a NSX
that is in lots of accidents statistically and costs a fortune to fix.
                        C. Your driving record. ie, tickets and
accidents and the type of insurance you desire as there are different
classes. (liablity only, collision, both, classic car, etc.)
                        D. Although, once your with the company, 1
accident or ticket will have "VIRTUALLY NO" bearing on your
                                insurance. For instance, I totally a 94
325is by rolling it over. The company settled for $30K and my
                                insurance only went up $66/year..
That's how it works. However, the second accident (it doesn't matter
how much it costs to fix... even if it's $5 past your deductible and you
file it, it still goes up) will cost you $400/year. The third is $800,
and the 4th cancels your insurance.
                        E. Accidents disappear after 3 years off your
insurance record and tickets are gone after 5 years.
                        F. Your tickets RARELY show up on an exisiting
insurance report so they're hardy EVER going to find out. Now, if they
do RANDOMLY check your account and see 3 tickets, your insurance will go
up a little but not much. However, if you have this on your record, and
are applying for STATE FARM insurance, then you would be denied.
                        Mike.
