In what respect?

My 1998 M3/4 was only ~$20 more per year to insure than
my 1996 328is. I even made it *lower* than the 328is by raising the
deductable to $500 (had a $250 deduct. on the 328is).

Of course, there's things like married/single, driving record, where you
live, and what insurance company, that will impact this, so a BIG YMMV :-)

Just throwing out a data point, no flame intended.
