Re: E30 front suspension repair questions...

Oh, oh! "Special" lubricant? I just did my front & rear suspension over the
weekend. Hope I didn't screw it up.

I was putting on new control arms so I had to deal with this bushing. I
figured a natural petroleum product might not be good for the rubber. So I
used plain old dish soap. Slippery stuff which will work it's way out pretty
quickly. I laid the bushing on the bench and pushed the control arm into it.
Rotate the are a few times back and forth to work the bushing rubber up the
shaft. Else as soon as you remove pressure, the bushing will pop right off.
 Anyhow, went on no problem.

Specifics on the rebuild: Bilstein sport shocks, H&R lowering springs, new
control arms, new shock upper mounts, new rear support bushings, Borbet type
C's with 225/45-16 P7000s. Ride is a bit choppier but way more precise, for
sure. Haven't really pushed much as haven't had the chance. But figure it's a
decent set up for street and the track.

Also installed a Jim C. chip. Engine check light flickers a bit so I have a
some debugging. No noticeable performance improvement subjectively anyhow.
Stock the car would run 40 to 80mph in 3rd gear in about 10sec. Is this
comparable to others?
