<E36 M3> Removing rear seats?

I use my M3 coupe on street and for drivers schools.  Being single and
having a beater car, I never use my M3's rear seats.  I've thought about
removing them to reduce the car's curb weight. Probably a crazy idea... 

But, I was wondering if any E36 M3 owners have removed their rear seats for
the purposes of reduced curb weight? And if you've realized any performance
gain as a result?
