Someone said:
"Also, you seem to be espousing the strict constitutionalist
interpretation of the constitution."
- - Hmm, that constitution seemed good enough for Washington, Adams,
Jefferson, Lincoln, and a smattering of
other "woulda been" Bimmer fanatics from the last coupl'a hundred years.
- - As a proud member of the U.S. Military (we may have a few problems but
we're still a HELL of a
lot better than the alternative) I probably should be upset that "Someone"
said that
- - I've spent the the last 17 years of my life living in foreign lands (none
were as nice as Germany, which is
where I am now), sleeping on the ground in monsoon rains, or when lucky in
a tent in the middle of a cold
winter someplace far from home. All of this endured without creature
comforts "Someone takes for granted
such as regular hot showers, hot food, water that's not pisswarm and
doesn't take like Iodine or Clorox.
I probably could be at least "miffed" that "Someone" said that.
- - Doing all of the above and being away from my family for extended periods
of time AND missing out on
things like my little girl's 1st birthday, 1st spoken words, 1st steps on
her own and more, I ought to be really
upset that "Someone" said that.
- - During the first ten or so years of this great job opportunity I've was
paid so poorly that my family qualified (but
didn't use) federal food aid, also called "Food Stamps" and my child would
have qualified for reduced price
school lunches if she had been old enough to be in school at that time.
When I add that to all the other items in
this list, I just ought to be REAL PISSED OFF that "Someone" said that.
- - But you know what? I'm NOT. I'm PROUD that I've been able to serve and
protect the freedoms that enable
"Someone" to safely feel he/she can state his or her opinion - whether I
agree with it or not. I'm equally proud
to have protected those folks that believe "Gun Control means being able
to hit the target." - whether I agree
with their opinion or not.
What REALLY "torques" me off - after going through all of this and doing
without "nice" things for years to save and cut corners so I afford a "nice
used" BMW, I have to spend lots of time scrolling through a bunch of
non-BMW related bickering and arguing to find BMW (or even Motor Vehicle)
related information. The jokin' around adds a bit of life to these digests
(Thanks Bubba Duane) and is quite entertaining in proper doses. And of
course I defend anyone's right to say just about anything but perhaps
"alt.fan.bitchn-n-gripe'n" would be a better newsgroup for these types of
posts? (INCLUDING this one)
"Someone" please remember that just because "Everyone" doesn't agree with
your opinion that doesn't make
them wrong. "Anyone" should be able to believe what they want to believe so
long as they don't infringe on
"Everyone" elses rights, and they ought to be able to do so without having
"Someone" say bad things about
them.
As for my beliefs . . . I believe I'll have a beer! ~~urrp!~~
Apologies to all - the 99.9 percent of the innocents and the other .1
percent of us.
