There is no extra wiring, in fact, most BMW's of the same era have identical amounts of pins in the control units.
The base control unit for most (if not all ) E30's is an identical part. The difference is in the programming. An iX requires a
different power band than an iS and so on. Different strokes for different folks, so to speak.
