E28 Cat Converters

Hey all,

I'm changing my muffler (cat back) this weekend to a B&B Triflo (thanks JP)
and I was thinking of taking the cat off and trying to fix the heat shield
so that the damn thing doesn't rattle.  I've heard of folks taking the heat
shield off, putting some of that Dynamat stuff (or whatever the stuff is
called) to isolate the shield from the converter.  This converter noise is
driving me NUTS and I would love to eliminate it.  My car has been making
this sound since $60k miles and I don't think it's the converter per se,
just the stupid shield.

What suggestions does anyone have.
