Stress-bars and metal fatigue

Over the years, I've read people debate the effectivness of Stress-Bars in 
stiffening up an auto.  I pretty much decided that I would NOT make such a 
purchase.  It then occurred to me during my first driving school that the 
shock and strut towers on my 10 year-old 325is were taking quite a beating.  
So now I'm re-thinking this decision and I'm wondering if stress-bars would be 
effective in preventing or reducing future metal fatigue in the shock and 
strut towers.   Comments?
