Rock vs. Windshield

Hey guys and gals (how's that for PC?):

Coming home from Michigan yesterday, we absorbed a rock with our
windshield.  It left maybe a half inch mark on the glass.  Is there
anything I should do to persuade it not to spread, or just wait and hope?
