Racing dynamics-bore and stroke(?)

I am in receipt of a catalog from Racing Dynamics.  They say they can "bore
and stroke" my engine and extract 308hp and 274 ft/lbs o tourque from it.

Now, needless to say, all this power sounds great, but I would like some
advice from the gurus (especially those who tend to lurk) on the pros and
cons of such an upgrade.

Oh yeah...what the hell is boring and stroking anyway!?!?
