Re. 530 blocks
The Salesman speaks.........
Are '94 BMW V8's prone to failure? Yes. The 94-95 V8's all use the
zinc coating on the Cylinder walls, and as such were all part of the
campaign.
How to fing out if replacement was done? The easiest way is to have a
BMW retailer run a "warranty claim" on that particular VIN. The records
only go back 12 months before the system purges them. You should be
able to tell by sitting in the car at cold idle. If it shakes, there is
a problem. Remember that when a car is warm the pistons and cylinders
have expanded, so the vibration will not be as pronounced.(it'll still
be there, though) Those cars all were updated with a 6yr-100,000
mile-all internally lubricated parts, engine warranty.
