Sagging side door inserts

My 86 E28's front door inserts (the perforated vinyl covering) are starting
to sag, separate from the backing, and pull out along the top. This seems
to be common in many mid 80's E28's I've seen. The vinyl is in mint
condition...just sagging, though.
Before I simply apply spray adhesive to the back, does anyone have more
experience with fixing the door panels? Anything I SHOULDN'T DO?
