Subject: "New" 95 740i question - unsupportive seating on cornering!
Date: Tuesday, September 15, 1998 12:23 PM
Having owned my first 7 series for less than a month now, it still feels
huge, and I don't have the comfort ($) seat option, and was wondering if
any other 95-98 owners without this option find the car unwieldy in
cornering, in as far as staying in the seat and not slipping off into the
door! The leather is quite smooth and it feels like I am sliding around
alot on corners and that the seat is barely supportive at all. Any
suggestions on how to avoid this feeling (reality)? I tried every seat
position I could try, and I'm 5'11 and on the thin side. Guess I should
have looked for a car with the comfort seat option? At $32,500 for the
car, I couldn't resist the deal so I bought it without ever driving one
with this option. Is there anything I'm not thinking of to avoid slipping
while going around corners? Maybe I just need to drive it more and try it
figure it out for myself, or get used to the WIDE as heck seat?!?
As a P.S., I took my friends out last night for the first time and four of
us barrelled in the car, and they were all VERY happy with the extra room
and comfort over the 91 M5 I last had and over the 96 Maxima before that.
Can't wait to take it to Maine in October from Silver Spring MD. It will
undoubtedly fit all our backpacking gear without a problem!
